Dear blog,
I am again very sorry I have neglected you in the past couple days. I had some business to attend to. Such as dipping into my chocolate supply and catching up with my friends one last time before I go back to school. Very important stuff.
This blog is going to be all about the Truth of the Week. Which is:
The importance of filtering your comments.
One of my friends just broke up with her boyfriend of four years. My instincts wanted to scream at her "I saw it coming." and "It was your first really long relationship, but you'll find someone else." But then my good friend filter kicked in and I just said, "I'll always be there for you."
You absolutely need a filter to keep from hurting peoples feelings. I don't think that its lying, its just telling them what they need to hear at the moment. I don't know about you, but I would rather keep the ones I love happy than hurt them if possible.
So that is my truth for this week. Kind of a deeper one. I'll try to think of some lighter-hearted ones for later. Or you guys could send me some. (*hint hint*)
Later,
Kate ;)

Are you sure filtering isn't lying? Isn't the truth always better? What about..."Truth shall set you free."?
ReplyDeleteAlong with your comment, "I'll always be there for you." Could you have pointed out examples of what you saw in the relationship that was detrimental to your friend?
